Green bean dessert soup recipe
緑豆のデザートスープの作り方

Growing up, my mum made many traditional Cantonese desserts. For example, Cantonese dessert soup (or tong sui which literally means "sweet water"). My family's favourite is 綠豆沙 or green bean dessert soup (or also known as mung bean dessert soup). My mum made this delicious and easy-to-make dessert to help with digestion. 

I'm sharing with you my version of my mum's recipe. I would love to hear your thoughts about my recipe.

Serving 4 - 6 

Vegan and dairy-free

Ingredients

1 cup of green beans, washed 

3 - 4 TB of raw sugar (see notes)

1 Tbsp of wakame (or dried seaweed), soaked

5 cups of water

1 can of coconut milk (about 400ml)

Toppings to serve

glutinous rice balls

vanilla ice cream

Method
  1. Soak wakame in cold water for 5 minutes (or until it has softened and expanded)

  2. Rinse the green beans

  3. Bring a large pot of water to the boil. Add green beans. Simmer on low-medium heat and leave covered for 45 minutes. Stir regularly.  

  4. Add wakame, sugar and coconut milk and simmer for extra 15 minutes (or until the beans becomes soft and the dessert soup thickens). 

  5. Serve dessert soup in small bowls. Add suggested toppings.  

Substitutes

Raw sugar with 2 - 3 pieces of rock sugar

ベジタリアン • 乳製品不使用

材料

1  カップ 緑豆 

3-4  大さじ 砂糖

1  大さじ 若布

5 カップ 水

400g ココナッツミルク

トッピング

バニラ • アイスクリーム

お餅

作り方
  1. 若布は冷水に5分程どを浸す。

  2. 緑豆を洗う。

  3. お鍋に1200ccの水を張って、沸騰するまで加熱する。而して,緑豆を入れる。                   45分程弱火にしておく。

  4. 若布と砂糖とココナッツミルクを入れて、15分程煮る。豆がやわらかくなり、とろみが出る。

  5. 出来上がりです。デザートスープを小鉢に盛りつけ、お好みでトッピングを加えても。

砂糖を氷砂糖に置き換える
